One day in Berlin … Eno came running in and said, ‘I have heard the sound of the future.’ … he puts on ‘I Feel Love’, by Donna Summer … He said, ‘This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next fifteen years.’ Which was more or less right.
A number of beardy, williamsburgy white guys have put out indie-tinged bedroom R&B albums in the last few years. Cerulean, by Baths, is probably the best one I’ve heard. The song (and video) ‘Lovely Bloodflow’ is especially good. Spotify.
I never get tired of this image or this album. Spotify.

La Planete Sauvage (Soundtrack), by Alain Goraguer on Spotify
While this is a SciFi soundtrack, you’ll find no Theremin or other primitive (wonderful) electronics. You won’t miss it, because what’s here is stunning. Imagine the best of Ennio Morricone’s Spaghetti Western soundtracks, Curtis Mayfield’s Superfly music, and the music for Valerie and Her Week of Wonders all blended together. That’ll get you close.

Congotronics re-imagined. Indie and alternative bands play with, cover, re-mix and ponder Konono No1. It’s an incredible album, much better than most compilations and tributes. There’s a lot of really inspired material here. Includes Deerhoof, Animal Collective, Tussle, Juana Molina, and a ton of others.
